Right now, four bills are on the table in the Massachusetts State Legislature that aim to enhance safety, fairness, and standards within our industry.
What’s at stake:
- HD507/SD2038: Closes the offsite fabrication wage loophole by mandating prevailing wages on public projects. This ensures fair compensation for workers and prevents unfair labor practices, promoting equity in the construction industry.
- HD3634/SD1481: Strengthens oversight of occupational licensure to uphold industry standards. This ensures that professionals across various fields meet rigorous qualifications, maintaining quality and safety in their respective industries.
- HD1949/SD2558: Grants licensed pipefitters equitable Group 4 retirement benefits, aligning them with other Massport tradespeople. This recognizes their expertise and contributions while ensuring parity and fairness in retirement benefits.
Every day, we advocate for our members to get improved wages, benefits, and more work hours on the best and biggest jobs with the highest safety standards. There is power in our numbers – we need you to take action and tell your state rep and senator to support licensed pipefitters for safety and quality work.
