Career Opportunities for Veterans
If you are a returning veteran, we thank you for your dedicated service to our nation.
At Pipefitters Local 537, we believe our veterans deserve the very best and actively work to ease their transitions back to civilian life through the following programs.

Helmets to Hardhats
Local 537 is also a proud partner of Helmets to Hardhats (H2H), a national, nonprofit program that connects transitioning active-duty military service members, veterans, National Guard and Reservists with skilled training and quality career opportunities in the construction industry. Nationally, over 25,000 service members have received union construction jobs from H2H.
The Helmets to Hardhats program is designed to help military service members successfully transition back into civilian life by offering them the means to secure a quality career in the construction industry. Make your transition to civilian life with trade employers searching for people with the skills and values you already have.
Most career opportunities offered by H2H are connected to federally-approved apprenticeship training programs that teach service members everything they need to know to become a construction industry professional. And, because these apprenticeship programs are regulated and approved at both federal and state levels, veterans can utilize their G.I. Bill benefits to supplement their income while they are learning valuable skills and on-the-job training.

Veterans in Piping
We proudly support and participate in the United Association’s Veterans in Piping (VIP) program, which offers free skills training and great jobs in the piping trades to returning military personnel.
The VIP program consists of 18 weeks of highly specialized, intensive training in marketable skills such as welding, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR). VIP also connects participants to apprenticeship training programs, which are recognized in the industry as the best in the business. These individuals can also earn college credit along the way which can be applied to a degree.
