Rigging Class
Rigging is an essential skill that both refrigeration / HVAC and pipefitting apprentices learn within the third, fourth, and fifth year of the apprenticeship program. Apprentices must learn how to rig safely, tie strong knots, and perform proper hand signals in order to move or shift heavy or hazardous equipment. Rigging involves erecting and dismantling cranes, hoists, or using other machinery, like chain blocks and winch systems. While the act of rigging can be dangerous, apprentices are taught to rig with precision and take the utmost precaution at all times.
